6-children rule from today

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Taking serious view of the death of yet another school student in a road accident, the city traffic police decided to enforce the rule of `only six children per auto-rickshaw' with immediate effect.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) A.K. Khan, said school managements had already been told about the decision 15 days ago that not more than six children should be allowed to travel in an auto-rickshaw. The rule was to come into force from September 1, but the police have now decided to enforce the rule.

Mr. Khan said that traffic police would seize any auto-rickshaw carrying more than six children.

He appealed to parents to ensure that their children did not get into an auto-rickshaw with more than six children.

The latest decision was taken keeping in view the instability of auto-rickshaws.
