THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thampanoor police are verifying a complaint that two motorcycle borne youth snatched a bag containing Rs.70,000 from a gold trader hailing from Thrissur near the railway station on Wednesday night. The complaint was filed by Renjith and his companion, Vineesh Kumar, hailing from Cherpu in Thrissur district. They had come to the city to procure orders for gold ornaments from jewellery shops in Chala market. Sub inspector A. Pramod Kumar said that there were several discrepancies in the statement given by Renjith. None of the shop keepers in the area had witnessed the alleged crime. The complainants had not raised any alarm. The police have gone to Thrissur to verify the antecedents of the complainants, he said.
Woman killed
A 32-year-old woman was killed when the two-wheeler on which she was riding pillion was hit by a lorry at Kunnathukal, near Neyyattinkara, on Thursday. She was identified as Sreedevi, wife of Narayanan Potti and a resident of Parassala.
