BANGALORE: Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi and Minister for Education, Youth and Sports, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Friday expressed interest in making investments in the State as he sees great potential here. The Minister made this statement after a series of presentations made by the State Government on the investment opportunities in the information technology and tourism sectors. Commending the State for taking a lead in the knowledge-based sector, the Minister said the dividends of investing in education would be substantial. "No nation can advance with just natural resources. Investing in human resources is essential for any growth." He is heading a 12-member delegation. Karnataka Finance Minister P.G.R. Sindhia said the State is conducive for investments and the Government will support such endeavours. Information Technology Secretary M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda said IT exports from the State are substantial, though not to the Asian countries (about three per cent) and there is scope to increase exports. B.R. Shetty, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NMC Group of Companies, UAE, introduced Sheikh Nahayan.
