Shilpa leaps to new mark

BANGALORE: Shilpa Sundar set a new meet record in long jump with a leap of 6.01m on the second day of the State junior athletic championships at the Sree Kanteerava stadium here on Friday. Shilpa, whose previous best was 5.79m, created the record in her first attempt itself.

Natasha Sagar clinched the gold in the 100m hurdles in the girls' under-18 section clocking 14.8s. She erased G.D. Gowramma's mark of 15.0s.

Pallavi Sukumar, Natasha's club-mate, created a new record in the under-16 girls' 100m hurdles with a time of 14.6s, bettering her own year-old mark of 14.8 seconds.
