HYDERABAD: Prayers, Gita recital, dance ballets and fancy dress competitions marked Krishna Janmashtami celebrations in the city on Friday. Fervour and gaiety were on display as the devout thronged temples since morning and joined special prayers and functions organised to mark the birthday of Lord Krishna. Celebrations at International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) began with `Mangala Arati' in the early hours and with uninterrupted darshan till mid-night while `Maha Yagnam' had devotees flocking the premises in the evening. The festivities here will continue on Saturday with `Maha Abhishekam' and culminate with Vyasa Puja programme on Sunday.
At Shilparamam
The sprawling grounds of Shilparamam too came alive with activity as large number of people, with children in tow thronged the place for a series of programme organised. Clad in traditional Krishna attire children in different age groups tried their best to outsmart one another for the fancy dress competition. Other contests such as Butter Hunt and `Utla Panduga' were followed with cultural programmes.
