Police hand over recovered gold ornaments, vehicles to owners

BANGALORE: Commissioner of Police Ajai Kumar Singh on Friday returned to the owners the gold ornaments and five of the 25 two-wheelers recovered by the city police in theft cases.

Among those who got back their gold ornaments were Roopa, Tarun Kumar and Puttamadaiah, all residents of Ramamurthynagar. The police said they recovered the gold ornaments by arresting Jayakanth alias Jaya (27) of Oorgam in Kolar Gold Fields.

According to the police, Jayakanth and his accomplice had burgled four houses in Ramamurthynagar police station limits and made away with gold ornaments, electronic goods and two scooters, all worth Rs. 2 lakhs. Some of the stolen gold ornaments are yet to be recovered, the police said.

The police are on the lookout for Jayakanth's accomplice.

Among those who got back their motorcycles were Subramani, Edwin, Rizwan and Obedullah. These motorcycles were among the 25 two-wheelers recovered from three persons who were arrested by the Kadugondanahalli police.

The Police Commissioner said that so far the owners of 18 vehicles have been identified.

The names of the arrested were given as Fayaz Ahmed alias Sharief (29) of Karumariammanagar on Nagavara Main Road, Ayub (27) of Venkateshpura on Nagavara Main Road and Nadan (52) of Jewellery Street in Shivajinagar. Fayaz had allegedly stolen some of these vehicles from Kadugondanahalli, Bharathinagar, Fraser Town and J.C. Nagar police station limits.

Nadan and Ayub had created fake documents and number plates for the stolen vehicles and sold them to the public, the police said.
