Jalappa refutes JD(S) charge

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Former Minister and Congress MP R.L. Jalappa has refuted the charges made out against him by the Working President of the State unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Kumaraswamy and several Janata Dal (S) Ministers and said he was ready to face an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the assets owned by him.

He told presspersons here on Friday that all that he owned was a house in Bangalore and even that was constructed by sheer accident. If it was established that he owned any other asset, the Government was free to take over such properties.

Mr Jalappa said Mr. Kumaraswamy, in the light of the allegations levelled by him, should also subject himself and the other members of his family to a CBI inquiry on the assets. If he did not subject himself to an inquiry, it would be construed that it was he and his family members who had amassed wealth and to cover up such deeds were pointing fingers at others.
