This Day That Age
The Union Home Minister, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, addressing a public meeting on the Nizam College grounds in Hyderabad on August 28, indicated that as a result of the recommendations of the States Reorganisation Commission "some changes" might occur in the present provincial setup in India, but these would be effected on the basis of administrative convenience. He, however, added, "I have no knowledge of what the Commission's recommendation would be, but no big upsets would take place, and, if any changes are effected for administrative reasons, nobody should feel hurt and harbour any feeling that he has lost something. Changes are bound to be made from time to time according to the needs of the situation. We should accept the recommendations of the Commission in the right spirit and help in the progress of the country. We should not act in a way which might hamper our advancement."
