HYDERABAD: Faced with stinging criticism over the recently-introduced one-way rule on Road No. 2 of Banjara Hills, the State Government on Monday stayed the orders of the Hyderabad Police Commissioner with immediate effect. The directive issued by Home Secretary A.K. Srivastava through a GO raised eyebrows among police and political circles, as Commissioner of Police V. Dinesh Reddy was said to have opposed a suggestion for withdrawing the one-way restriction. The order copy was circulated to Swaranjit Sen, DGP, and the Home Minister's office.
The order (GO Rt. 1296) mentioned that the Government had considered representations from various quarters about the hardship caused due to the one-way rule and "decided that the one-way restriction from KBR statue to Nagarjuna circle in Road No. 2 Banjara Hills was stayed for the time being." However, one-way traffic rule will be applied to the Madhapur arch-Jubilee Hills check-post as announced earlier. Traffic movement will be unidirectional from Madhapur arch to Jubilee Hills check-post from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be one-way from Jubilee Hills check-post to Madhapur arch from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., ACPolice (traffic) A.K. Khan said.
