KOCHI: Television viewers in Kerala are getting organised. The Kerala Television Prekshaka Samithi (TIPS, for short), which was born two months ago, is offering to make the viewers' voice heard and get their views across to the television channels. Ajeesh Atholi, TIPS general secretary, told a news conference here on Monday that the organisation would attract at least one member from each TV-viewing family to it. It will assess all the programmes, news included, on Malayalam TV channels and send its rating reports to the channel executives. He said a mechanism for assessing viewers' views would be set up and claimed that it would be more reliable and much better than the current TAM rating used in the visual media. He said the TIPS rating would make a qualitative impact on the TV programmes on the Malayalam channels.
