MALAPPURAM: Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) leader M.P. Gangadharan here on Wednesday underscored the importance of an alliance with the Left Democratic Front (LDF). "The LDF and DIC(K) should unite," he told newspersons. He said the DIC(K) shared the democratic, secular and socialist ideals propounded by the LDF. The United Democratic Front (UDF) no longer up hold those ideals, he said. He said the DIC(K) would prove its might in the upcoming local body elections. There will be a tie-up with the LDF during the panchayat elections. A decision on whether to continue with the tie-up after the local body elections will be taken later, he said. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), he said, is a communal party. Mr. Gangadharan said that action would be taken against DIC(K) workers if they enter into any alliance with the party of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
