Coastal Andhra records deficient rainfall

VISAKHAPATNAM: Coastal Andhra Pradesh has registered deficient rainfall in the current monsoon season whereas Telangana received the normal quota and Rayalaseema excess rain.

According to the Cyclone Warning Centre here, for the last three months, the north coastal districts of West and East Godavari, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram received scanty rain while Srikakulam got normal rain during the period.

In the south coastal districts of Krishna, Guntur and Nellore received normal rainfall with Praksam recording deficient rain.

The following are the actual rainfall figures (with normal rainfall in brackets): Prakasam 198.6 mm. (262.5 mm), West Godavari 436.8 (578.9), East Godavari 391.2 (525.6), Visakhapatnam 362.9 (466.4), Vizianagaram 366.9 (506.0).

The percentage departure in rainfall is as follows: Prakasam minus 24, West Godavari minus 25, East Godavari minus 26, Visakhapatnam minus 22 and Vizianagaram minus 28.
