Arrangements in place for polls in 3 municipalities

    SRIKAKULAM: Arrangements are in place for conduct of elections in three municipalities of Srikakulam, Amadalavalasa and Itchapuram where nearly 1,19,200 voters will elect member to 82 wards on September 24.

    Incidentally, the number of women voters outnumbers men in all three municipalities while 53 wards have been reserved for various groups. Giving details of the arrangements at a press conference here on Thursday, district Collector A. Koteswara Rao said that 120 polling stations would be set up for voters to exercise their franchise.

    All voters with their name in the voter list would be eligible to vote. Mr. Koteswara rao urged the voters to go to polling station with some form of identity. It could be ration card, telephone bill, passport, PAN card or any other identity stipulated by the State Election Commission. The Collector said that P. Rajanikantha Rao, chief of Land Acquisition unit, Heeramandalam, S. Venkateswara Rao, RDO, Srikakulam, and Ch. Ramalakshmi, RDO, Tekkali, have been appointed incharge officers for the Srikakulam, Amadalavalasa and Itchapuram municipalities respectively.
