Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Senior IAS officer, D. C. Rosaiah, and eight others got struck in a lift for half an hour in the Secretariat on Thursday.

The Principal Secretary, Revenue, and other officials got into the lift on the eastern side of the "L" block when it stopped suddenly between the third and fourth floors. Mr. Rosaiah kept his cool and contacted the staff in his peshi on the seventh floor through his mobile phone for summoning the lift mechanic. But, the mechanic was not traceable immediately.

The Principal Secretary and the others remained in the lift till the mechanic came half an hour later even as other employees who gathered at the spot by then, waited anxiously. The mechanic freed the elevator to enable the occupants to emerge.
