Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance work in Kodambakkam, Perambur, Puzhal, Tondiarpet, Sowcarpet (East), Saligramam, Aynavaram and Mahalingapuram areas.

NAAC team visit

A team of National Assessment and Accreditation Council will visit Jerusalem College of Engineering on Friday and Saturday.

The college offers six undergraduate and four postgraduate programmes. At present three undergraduate programmes are NAAC accredited.

Health camp

Singhvi Charitable Trust conducted a free eye and dental camp at Government Middle School, Polivakkam in Tiruvallur district on Sunday.

Around 625 persons, including the elderly, women and children were screened for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataract, vision check-up and dental problems. While 308 persons were given spectacles, 262 attendees received free medicines and 55 patients referred to Sri Sankara Eye Hospital in Pammal for free surgeries.

Blood donation

Lions Club of Velachery has conducted blood donation camp on Tuesday at Chellammal Women's College. About 106 units of blood were collected. So far, the Club has collected 1854 units of blood from 17 camps organised since July.

School cleaned

Selfless Movement Improving Life Everywhere (SMILE ) volunteers on Thursday undertook cleaning of Lady Wellington Girls' Higher Secondary School at Triplicane.

Around 50 volunteers swept the auditorium, the classrooms and garden.

Madras Founding Day

Madras Freemasons Hall Trust will celebrate Madras Founding Day on Sunday. The public can retrace history through maps, coins and other artefacts depicting various facets of yesteryear Madras. The programme includes an exhibition of Masonic artefacts and regalia and a meeting on the relevance of Founding Day for citizens.

German language course

Max Mueller Bhavan is offering crash courses in German language from September 5 to October 13. The registration has commenced. For further details, contact 28331314 or write to german@Chennai.goethe.org

TNPSC applications

Applications called for by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission recently for selection to the posts of Group IV, lower division clerks, typists and stenographers through newspaper advertisements, are available in 20 post offices of Chennai city region.

The cost of an application with information brochure is Rs. 30. The post offices are Chennai GPO and T. Nagar, Park Town, Tambaram, Avadi Camp, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Pondicherry, Villupuram, Arni, Anna Road, Mylapore, St. Thomas Mount, Ambattur, Arakkonam, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Tindivanam, Tiruvannamalai and Vellore HPOs, according to a postal department press release.
