HYDERABAD:
The State Government on Thursday signed a contract with the Bharat Electronics Limited, the principal partner of RAJiv, for setting up 5,550 Rajiv Internet Centres for providing citizen-friendly services through electronic delivery systems in villages falling under 14 districts.
The project envisages setting up of 1,169 kiosks would be set up in Zone II comprising West Godavari, Khammam and Krishna districts, 1,185 kiosks in Zone III (Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore), 1,685 in Zone IV (Anantapur, Kurnool, Kadapa and Chittoor) and 1,511 kiosks in Zone V (Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Nizamabad). These are in addition to the 3,068 kiosks to be set up by TIMES (an NGO) for which a contract was signed in June this year.
The kiosks would be set up under the public-private partnership model with the total investment to the tune of Rs. 100 crores from BEL and their consortium partner, Radiant Infosystems Ltd.
The BEL would pay an annual fee of Rs. 6,000 per kiosk to the Government and the project is expected to go "live" within six months.
