TRS chief's criticism of YSR draws flak

KCR should learn `decency and dignity' in public life: APCC chief

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Keshava Rao has lashed out at Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhara Rao for his criticism of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Asking the TRS president to learn "some decency and dignity" in public life, Dr. Rao said his threat to reconsider his partnership with the UPA, amounted to "blackmail".

Speaking to the media at his residence on Thursday, he said Mr. Rao was stooping low in public life by using intemperate language every now and then.

There was no need for the TRS leaders to get emotional over newspaper reports, which could have been distorted, he said.

Referring to the Chief Minster's stand on smaller States, he said Dr. Reddy was only talking about the benefits of bigger States from the developmental angle and made no particular reference to Telangana.

Telangana Statehood as an issue was put on hold by the Congress high command, which had categorically stated that, "a decision will be taken at the appropriate time". The UPA had formed a sub-committee and it was going about its business in dealing with the issue.

The PCC chief said there was nothing new in Mr. Rao's outburst since the TRS had been threatening to part ways with the UPA. There was no need for anyone to make hasty decisions as AICC president Sonia Gandhi had assured to look into the grievance.
