Adopt government schools, BMP told
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Primary and Secondary Education Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday called upon the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) officials to adopt government schools in the city and provide basic infrastructure.
Speaking at a function organised by the BMP to present sewing machines to 80 beneficiaries in Mavalli, the Minister said there are several government schools in the city that are in dilapidated condition and need immediate attention.
"If the BMP adopts these schools and renovates them, it will be of great help," he said.
Mr. Ramalinga Reddy said the Government planned to bring back all dropouts to schools by 2007. "Of the 1.05 lakh dropouts, we have managed to bring back over 40,000 under the Chinnara Angala programme," he said.
Mayor R. Narayanaswamy spoke.
