NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the South Delhi police on charges of selling fake degrees and certificates. The police recovered 150 fake degrees, mark-sheets and certificates from their possession and have seized the computer, compact discs and printer used to print the documents. On Wednesday, the Kalkaji police received a complaint from Sonu, a resident of Trilokpuri in East Delhi, that one Suraj Pal had been selling fake degrees and certificates. Sonu revealed that he recently came in contact with the accused who offered him school mark-sheets and college certificates against payment of Rs. 40,000. Initially, Sonu thought to get the documents, on the basis of which he could get a good job. However, his friends advised him to not to fall into the trap and inform the police instead. Subsequently, the police laid a trap and arrested Suraj when he was handing over the certificates to the complainant. During interrogation, he allegedly revealed that he ran a coaching centre from his house. To make quick money, he began selling forged certificates to his students. He allegedly revealed that his accomplice, Gaurav Sharma, used to print the documents against 30 per cent cut on each transaction. The duo also supplied college degrees and Central Board of Secondary Education certificates. At Suraj's instance, the police also arrested Gaurav and recovered over 140 fake documents of various universities and educational boards from his house. During interrogation, he revealed that he was a Delhi University drop-out. A probe into his other suspected involvements is on.
