`Criminal' killed
Acting on a tip-off that Aman Kumar, involved in seven criminal cases, would pass by Rithala Road on Thursday morning, the police laid a trap. Around 5-30 a.m., they spotted the suspect coming towards them on a scooter. Subsequently, Constable Rishi Raj tried to intercept the scooter when the suspect stopped, abandoned the vehicle and began running on foot. He also whipped out a firearm and opened fire on the police party. One of the bullets pierced through the left forearm of Constable Rajbir. The police fired in return, in which Aman also sustained bullet injuries. Both the injured where rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where Aman was declared dead on arrival. Rajbir was operated upon and was stated to be in stable condition.
Guard arrested
On Wednesday, the police received a complaint from Dal Chand, a MCD employee, alleging that Sanjeev, the security guard, who had helped him withdraw money from his account, returned another ATM card to him. Sanjeev then allegedly withdrew Rs. 18,400 from Dal Chand's account. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Sanjeev and recovered a television bought from Dal Chand's money.
Sex racket busted
Acting on a tip-off that Jagdeep Kumar was running a prostitution racket from a beauty parlour, the police sent a decoy customer. As soon as Jagdeep accepted Rs. 4,000 for providing a sex worker, the police raided the place and arrested him along with three women.
Three held for brawl
According to the police, Sunil and Kunal, both residents of Madangir, had an altercation over the selling of meat of a certain animal which led to fisticuffs between them and their friends in the morning. As the situation threatened to turn ugly, someone informed the police. The local police reached the spot immediately and arrested Sunil, Kunal and another person, Madan.
