BJP releases first list of candidates

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Friday released a list of 105 candidates for six municipal corporations. This is the first list of candidates for all the 564 divisions in eleven corporations that it has decided to contest.

The party's State vice-president, S.V. Seshagiri Rao, and the general secretary, K. Laxman, released the list here after a meeting to consider the names of aspirants, presided by N. Indrasena Reddy.

The list included 21 candidates from Nizamabad, 15 from Guntur, 23 from Warangal, eight from Karimnagar, 17 from Anantapur and 21 from Vijayawada corporations.

The said the party had accommodated backward classes candidates in 40 per cent of wards although the norm stipulated a reservation of 33 per cent to these sections. The BC candidates aree being fielded from a number of general seats.

They criticised the dilemma of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in forging an alliance with Congress. The party was not confident about going to the polls in spite of winning the mandate of people in the last two elections that it faced.
