HYDERABAD: Outsourcing recruitment process from the globe to India means a US $ 20 billion opportunity for the 85,000 manpower professionals in India, according to Pandiarajan, Managing Director, Mafoi, India's largest recruiters. A call centre in India can mine data banks, shortlist resumes, feed data as per client specifications. With Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and videoconferencing, firms here can also head hunt for UK and US companies. Mr. Pandiarajan presented this model to delegates at the National Conference on Selection organised in the city by Executive Recruiters Association.
Strength
And the 12 clients from UK, who are being served by a Mafoi BPO office in Chennai, are happy with 40-50 per cent reduced cost, he added. Within the next three to four months he plans to take the strength from 200 to 500 persons in this outsourcing business.
Industry needs
Earlier, during the conference, Malcom Wagget, COO, HSBC, Global Resourcing South Asia, focussed controlling attrition which amounts to 1.5 times the annual salary and may lead to migration of business to China, Philippines, East Europe and South America. "Recruitment consultants should go beyond placements and play a key role in working closely with the industry to formulate long-term retention strategies." He also said with rising expectations of English language standards, industry needs to provide language training in-house. The day-long conference also had four working groups on innovative hiring practices, making hiring processes work, building sustainable partnerships and moving up the costumer value chain to be complied into a white paper. The conference was sponsored by Satyam, Convergys, Kenexa, Institute for eGovernance with The Hindu and The Hindu Business Line as media partners and naukri.com as job board partner.
