CHENNAI: Students of Dr. MGR Janaki College, R.A. Puram, set themselves into `Rhythm' to showcase their talent at the college's cultural festival, `Rhythm' hosted last week. Director P. Vasu, who inaugurated the fest, recalled his association with Satya Studios and advised students to build self-confidence to excel in life. The college principal Rukmani pointed out that the fest coincided with the 10th anniversary of the college. The inaugural ceremony also marked the release of the compact disc of the college song, which was received by Latha Rajendran, college secretary and correspondent. The two-day fest saw stiff competition in various contests, including classical dance, light music and western dance. Audience also had a taste of folk dance through enchanting performances of Karagattam and Poikal Khuthirai by students. Off-stage events, such as T-shirt painting, vegetable carving and art-out-of waste also saw overwhelming participation of students. Students of department of Microbiology won the best team shield for the consecutive year in the fashion show that culminated the fest's events. Neeti of M.Sc. (IT) second year was crowned Ms. Dr. MGR Janaki College `05 during the fest. Malavika Vikram, noted advocate and Arun Pandian, actor and director were the other guests of honour.
