Bringing hope to tsunami victims

HOPE Foundation, Vrindavana Society joint initiative

CHENNAI:
The HOPE Foundation and the Vrindavana Preservation Society, actively involved in tsunami relief work, have donated $18,400 towards rehabilitating fishermen displaced by the killer waves.
A four-day cultural celebration was conducted to help people to overcome their trauma. Sports such as kabbadi and volleyball were organised for youngsters, children and women. The groups staged shows on the Ramayana and Mahabaratha in the evenings.
The organisers also deicide to provide the infrastructure and partial running cost for the Primaru Health Clinic, set up by the Hope Foundation, for a year. They built a kitchen for the midday meal programme four new toilets and provided furniture for the Government Primary School in Uyyalikuppam.
All 150 students were given school bags, slates, pencil boxes, pencils, rubbers and scales. School fees of Rs 18,500 were paid for 50 students from both the villages. A hearing impaired boy was given a hearing aid.
