HYDERABAD: The Director of Government Examinations has notified the examination date for the `National Talent Promotion Scheme for School Dropouts' where 100 scholarships will be awarded to eligible students throughout their career up to the PhD level as November 11. The scholarships, monthly and an annual book grant, will be given to those pursuing basic sciences and social sciences including commerce. For engineering, medicine, management and law students scholarships will be given up to second year. Presently, the scheme will be implemented for a year on a trial basis. Selections will be done through two levels of examinations followed by an interview to be conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training, a press note said. To be eligible students should have completed seventh or eight class securing at least 40 per cent of marks, be between 15 to 20 years of age and should have registered or intending to register as a private candidate for class X examination to be conducted by the State Board/National Open School. Candidates have to remit Rs. 100 DD drawn either at SBH or SBI in favour of `The Secretary to the Commissioner of Government Examinations, Andhra Pradesh Hyderabad' on or before Sept. 30. Application can be obtained by logging on to www.ncert.nic.in or calling up Y. Pavada Kumar, Deputy Commissioner for Government Examinations, Chapel Road, Hyderabad.
