CHENNAI: A long-pending demand by voluntary organisations for constituting an appropriate authority under the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act has finally been fulfilled. The State Government issued a notification authorising the constitution of the authority comprising three members, including the Director of Medical and Rural Services who would be the chairperson and a deputy secretary besides a member from the voluntary sector, Gita Viswanathan, secretary, Guild of Service.
