Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in M.K.B. Nagar and Foreshore Estate on September 5 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Mahasamprokshanam

The mahasamprokshanam of Sri Jagannathaperumal-Thirumazhisai Aazhwar temple near here will be performed on September 8 (Thursday). According to a stone inscription, the temple dates back to the period of Kulothunga Chola (1194 A.D).

The shrines of Perumal, Thayar, Andal and Azhwar, Mahamandapam, Oyyali Mandapam and madapalli, have been renovated with funds donated by various trusts and with devotees munificence.

The samprokshanam celebrations will start on September 4 (Sunday), according to temple authorities.

Workshop for pregnant women

Guna Associates in Urogynaecology and Research for Incontinence, in T. Nagar will hold a five-day workshop from September 5 on problems women face following pregnancy and delivery-related stress to pelvic organs.

The stress could result in urinary incontinence (involuntary leakage of urine). Twelve per cent of Indian women suffer from this problem, according to a study by the Asian Society of Female Urology. At the camp women will be counselled on social and quality of life issues. Video demonstrations and group interactions will be held.

Oratorical contest

The Srinivas Youngmen's Association, Triplicane and Sree Krishna Sweets are jointly organising an oratorical contest for college students on September 11 at Maha Kavi Bharatiyar Illam, Triplicane. The event marks the death anniversary of the poet.

Blood donation

About 60 volunteers donated blood at the camp organised at Indian Bank, Nungambakkam branch, on Friday. A free diabetic check-up was also organised.

Yoga programme

Isha Foundation will be conducting a 13-day Isha Yoga programme from September 4, featuring Shakti Chalana Kriya and Shoonya Meditation. The centres would be Natesan Institute of Co-operative Management, Shanti Colony, Anna Nagar; MSR House, Pondy Bazaar, T Nagar; Anna Daana Samajam, Meenakshi Street, Perambur.
