R. K. Sharma in AIIMS

New Delhi: Ravi Kant Sharma, a suspended Haryana cadre IPS officer and prime accused in the journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, has been admitted to AIIMS for undergoing spinal surgery.

Taking into consideration his condition, Additional Sessions Judge Sunil Gaur, who is holding trial in the case, has exempted him from appearing before it for the whole of September.

Sharma, who was admitted to AIIMS on September 1, had filed an application before the court expressing his inability to appear before it on eight days of hearing this month.

Three arrested

NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested by the Special Staff of the East Delhi police for allegedly printing and selling inlay cards for pornographic video CDs. The police have recovered printed material worth Rs. 1 lakh.

According to the police, a raid was conducted at the hideout of suspects in Old Seelampur on Friday and three accused, Naim, Dushyant and Harish Kumar, were arrested. The police recovered 1.5 lakh pornographic inlay cards, several negatives of such cards and plates of the inlay cards for the blue films.

Job racket, two held

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi police for allegedly duping people of their money promising jobs abroad.

Investigations, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police M.K. Sharma, revealed that the accused, Prem Nath Singh (36) and Ashok Kumar Singh (53), had opened an office in at Uday Park in Masjid Moth, South Delhi.

The police conducted a raid at their office and recovered more than 40 passports and fake certificates and arrested the duo on Thursday.

Man ends life

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in his house at Narela in North-West Delhi on Saturday.

According to the police, Vijay Dahiya, a resident of Swatantra Nagar in Narela, was taken to near Maharishi Valmiki Hospital by his family members around 12-30 p.m. where he was declared brought dead.

Girl knocked down

NEW DELHI: An unidentified girl was knocked unconscious when a vehicle hit her near a flyover at Rajouri Garden in West Delhi on Saturday.

According to the police, a call was received around 8 p.m. that a girl had been thrown out of a moving car. The police, however, reached the spot and found that the girl was apparently crossing the road when the vehicle hit her after which she became unconscious.
