This Day That Age
President Eisenhower received on September 1 from his old comrade-in-arms, Marshal Georgi Zhukov, Russian Defence Minister, a gilt-framed colour portrait of the Marshal and his family, including his daughter Nina, to whom Eisenhower recently sent a wedding present. Announcing the arrival of Marshal Zhukov's present, the White House Press Secretary, Mr. James C. Hagerty, said the portrait put an end to the rumours that Zhukov, in fact, had no daughter and was merely joking when he told President Eisenhower in Geneva last July about his daughter's wedding.
