Clash in Akola district, six houses burnt
AKOLA:
Six houses belonging to tribals were set afire by an angry mob following a clash between two communities at Belkhed village, 60 km from here, in Hiwarkhed taluka of the district on Sunday, police said.
Ten persons were injured in the incident even as police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the rioting mob, police added.
The trouble occurred during the `pola' (bullocks festival) celebrations in the village when some people of a community brought their bullocks to the temple which was objected by the people of other community, police said.
Following this, the two groups pelted stones at each other. Tenpersons received injuries, police said adding, six houses belonging to tribals and some pan kiosks were also set afire. PTI
