CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over south interior Karnataka and active over north interior Karnataka and Kerala.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Isolated rainfall occurred over Rayalaseema and coastal Karnataka.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres: Bangarpet (Kolar dt.) 13, Channapatna (Bangalore Rural dt.) 11, Polur (Tiruvannamalai dt.) 10, Satyamangalam (Erode dt.) and Periyur (Madurai dt.) 9 each, Yelahanka 8 and Viralimalai (Pudukottai dt.), Thogamalai (Karur dt.), Bangalore Airport and Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) 7 each.

FORECAST (valid until Tuesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep during next 48 hours.

FORECAST FOR CHENNAI CITY AND NEIGHBOURHOOD (Valid until Tuesday morning): Partly cloudy. Possibility of shower or thundershowers in some areas.

FARMERS WEATHER BULLETIN FOR TAMIL NADU AND PONDICHERRY (Valid until Tuesday morning): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: No significant change.
