Mankotia seeks change in State leadership

Staff Correspondent

SHIMLA: Concerned over the declining graph of Congress in the State, senior Congress leader and former Tourism Minster Vijay Singh Mankotia has written a letter to the party President Sonia Gandhi seeking her immediate intervention. He has pleaded for a change in leadership in the State after the party faced a series of defeats in the recent by-elections.

Releasing copies of his letter to the AICC President, Mr. Mankotia alleged that the Central leadership of the party has been undermined by the so called "cult figures" in the State. "They have created such a terror that no one dares to raise his or her voice against the top State leadership," he added. The party needs a positive revamping instead of becoming a personal fiefdom of an individual, Mr. Mankotia stated.

The party's student wing NSUI lost 90 percent of seats in the recently conducted student body elections in the State. Even the colleges in the Chief Minister's constituency of Rohroo lost all the seats to ABVP and SFI.
