PROUD WINNERS: Eunice Crook, Director, South India British Council giving away prizes to the students of St. Aloysius College Mangalore, in Chennai on Saturday.
MANGALORE: The students of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, won the second prize in the south India-level Inter-Collegiate Quiz Contest at Chennai. The contest was held on Saturday and was organised by the Association of British Scholars (ABS) and the British Council. The students secured the second place by scoring 85 points. The Mangalore team consisted of Anup Chandra Pal, A. Aravind and S. Parikshith. They received a cash prize of Rs. 5,400 and gift hampers from Hindustan Lever Ltd. The first place was won by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, who scored 95 points. Eunice Crook, Director, South India British Council, gave away the prizes. The Mangalore team also won the "Best Slogan Writing Competition" which was on environment and nature conservation. They received a cash prize of Rs. 1,500. The winning slogan was: "Mother Nature nurtures, human nature fractures".
