HYDERABAD: Road-widening works, which are taken up at different localities in the limits of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH), are progressing at a brisk pace, MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju said here on Sunday. Mr. Jaju said that the works were carried out even on Sundays. He conducted a joint inspection of the works with Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) A.K. Voluntary involvement
He said in view of the importance of the work, property owners are voluntarily coming forward and cooperating with the corporation. The team of officials visited Mehdipatnam, Towlichoki, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Erragadda, Somajiguda and Greenlands. Mr. Jaju said that it is proposed to widen the stretch to 100 feet at Banjara Hills Road No.2 to Jubilee Hills Road No.36 and that around 200 properties are likely to be affected along the route. As for the Punjagutta-Somajiguda and Raj Bhavan road stretch, 40 properties were affected. The widening work is over and road laying is almost complete on this route, he said. Road-widening works between Charminar and Falaknuma, Ekminar and Darusalam and Himayatnagar and Narayanguda are nearing completion. Mr. Jaju later reviewed land acquisition for the proposed four flyovers, and road over bridge works at Sitaphalmandi, Jamai Osmania and on Muslim Jung bridge over the Musi.
