NEW DELHI: Three women, including a pimp, were arrested on Saturday by the Crime Branch on charges of running a prostitution racket from a Government flat in Lodhi Colony in South Delhi. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, A.S. Cheema, the Anti-Robbery Section of the Crime Branch received a tip-off that a middle-aged woman had been running a sex racket from a Government flat at Lodhi Colony. Subsequently, the police sent a decoy customer to the accused to strike the deal. On Saturday, the accused asked the decoy to meet her at the Lodhi Colony flat. Two young women were paraded before him. As soon as the decoy paid the advance money to the accused, the police party raided the place and arrested her along with the other two women. Two mobile phones and some incriminating documents were recovered from their possession. During interrogation, the pimp allegedly disclosed that she had been running the prostitution racket in connivance with her husband, Jai Shankar, for the past seven years. The accused supplied sex workers to businessmen in luxurious hotels and guesthouses. The police said she earlier operated from Lucknow, but shifted to Delhi along with her husband a few years ago to expand their "business". Initially, they stayed in rented accommodations in South Delhi, but later they took the Lodhi Colony Government flat on rent to hoodwink the police. The police said the other two women were from Lucknow and Kanpur.
