Teleconference facility through EDUSAT for District Institute of Educational Training

Similar facility for all 16 Basic Resource Centres

DINDIGUL: : Teleconference facility through EDUSAT will be provided at the District Institute of Educational Training at Oddanchatram before month-end. Similar facility will also be provided in all 16 Basic Resource Centres (BRC) functioning under Sarva Sikshya Abyan Scheme in Dinidgul district in a phased manner, said Rama. Pandurangan, Chief Educational Officer.

Taking part in an interaction session between resource persons in Anna University and school teachers and BRC coordinators through EDUSAT held at P.S.N.A. College of Engineering and Technology, first of its kind in the district, on Monday, he said that resource persons through teleconference had guided teachers on how to undertake action research to find out various problems of students and teachers and between schools and the society. Such facility would also help students get better education through e-learning.

Addressing the teachers through teleconference, Directorate of Teachers Education, Research and Training Joint Director R. Perumalsamy said teachers should become reflective practitioners. Self-assessment was essential for every teacher to update knowledge, to become real professionals and enhance quality of education.

Joint Director of the SSA R. Ilangovan said that more that 13,500 teachers in the State had undertaken action research last year. Of this, 10,000 had completed their research.

State Research Coordinator D. Gangadharan said that 30 per cent action research undertaken by teachers in Erode district were about school-society related issues only.

Research on students' personal problems would help teachers interact with students easily and persuade them to eliminate such problems without any strain and improve their efficiency.

Provisions were made through landline and mobile phones to enable teachers in Dindigul to interact with resources persons in Chennai. About 40 teachers and coordinators took part.
