RAIPUR: In the wake of Saturday's landmine blast in the Bastar region, whichclaimed the lives of 24 security personnel, the Chhattisgarh The Cabinet, at an emergency meeting here on Monday, decided to ban naxal organisations through an ordinance. Chief Minister Raman Singh told PTI that the draft ordinance would be sent to the Union Home Ministry for approval. Thereafter it would be sent to the President through Governor Sushil Kumar Shinde. After the Presidential nod, the outfits would be banned through a notification. Terming the situation in Bastar "warlike," State Home Minister Ram Vichar Netam said that at many places the police and paramilitary forces were engaged in a one-to-one fight with the naxals. "Any organisation or group of individuals, involved in illegal activities or terrorist activities, will be initially banned for one year through this ordinance and after examining their activities the period can be extended." Pointing out that the Government needed more forces and sophisticated weapons to tackle the situation, the Chief Minister on Sunday sought the assistance of the Union Home Ministry.
