MANGALORE: B. Dayananda has taken charge as the 124th Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada district here on Monday. He succeeds Soumendu Mukherjee who has been transferred and is awaiting posting. Mr. Dayananda was serving in the same capacity in Chitradurga district prior to this posting. An arts graduate from Osmania University, Hyderabad, Mr. Dayananda began his career as the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Puttur sub-division in the district. He is from the 1994 Indian Police Service (IPS) batch of the Karnataka cadre. He has been posted as Superintendent of Police in Bijapur, Belgaum and Kolar between 2000 and 2003. He was part of the United Nations peace-keeping mission in Kosovo from October 2003 to November 2004. On his return from Kosovo, he was posted as Superintendent of Police in Chitradurga district. Mr. Dayananada is a native of Bannikal village in Hagari Bommanahalli taluk in Bellary district.He is the recipient of Chief Minister's Gold Medal for 1998.
