HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) Commissioner, Sanjay Jaju, has ordered the demolition of dilapidated buildings and directed his staff not to show any lenience especially with regard to mud structures as it could endanger people's lives. Reviewing the Town Planning and Engineering works of the Old City - Circle 1 & 2 on Monday, Mr. Jaju advised the officials to take suitable certificates and break down even those structures that were under owner-tenant disputes.
`Stave off pressure'
He also advised them not to succumb to any `extraneous' pressures in this regard. The Commissioner inspected the ongoing road widening works on the Falaknuma-Charminar road and interacted with the property owners likely to get affected. He managed to convince the management of a Hindu religious shrine situated near Charminar to shift the same. Construction of a modern bus shelter with amenities like toilets and drinking water was completed at Falaknuma to shift APSRTC bus stop, according to the Additional Commissioner of South Zone, Y. Satyanarayana. The Commissioner expressed his dissatisfaction with the sanitation levels in the Old City and asked the Additional Commissioner, Health & Sanitation, Vandan Kumar, to intensify cleanliness drive.
