RAJAHMUNDRY: After the closure of nominations in seven municipalities and Kakinada Corporation, withdrawals are going to play a key role in the district. The Telugu Desam Party has managed to announce candidates for 70 per cent wards in the district officially, but Congress party has only announced for 15 per cent of wards, but not by issuing B-forms. Congress Election Committee with local Ministers Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao, Gollapalli Suryarao, PCC secretaries D. Nagender and B. Satyanarayana headed by DCC president Thota Narasimham have announced that B-forms will be given only on September 9, the last day for withdrawals in the district. The Congress has not declared Chairperson and Mayor candidates in any municipality, whereas the TDP declared its Chairperson candidates in three towns -- Peddapuram, Mandapeta and Samalkot.
High drama
While political parties could not finalise the list of candidates even on the lat date there has been high drama in several wards in different towns. Many of the candidates who had filed their nominations are now asking the political parties to announce their names as official candidates, while some other candidates started negotiations with official candidates to withdraw their nominations.
