Posts of teachers to be filled

Primary schools opened in villages

DHARMAPURI: A total of 185 teachers' vacancies and 72 headmasters' vacancies in primary and middle schools in the district will be filled by October, Collector Sudeep Jain said here on Wednesday.

New primary schools were opened in the villages of Murungamarathuarasu, Alakattu, Attapalayam in Pennagaram union and Thekkalpatti, Madikadu and Kadukapatti in Pappireddipatti union in the current year. Mr. Jain said that 6,141 out-of-school children had been enrolled till date. Of this, 252 were admitted in Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) centres, 884 in bridge courses, 323 in residential camps and 586 in National Child Labour Project (NCLP)-run special schools. Five EGS centres would be started to enrol 6,233 out-of-school children in the district.

Funds allotted

Under the National Programme of Education for Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL), Rs. 1.02 crores was allotted for construction of 16 additional classroom buildings and for training teachers in the current year.
