BANGALORE: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and other leaders have extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. In his message, Mr. Chaturvedi said Lord Vinayaka is hailed as the remover of all obstacles. He is worshipped at the beginning of all important occasions. "Bhadrapada Chaturthi is exclusively regarded as the festival of Lord Ganesha, and on this day may the festival bring progress, prosperity and peace to the people of the State," he said. Mr. Dharam Singh said the State has received good rainfall this year, and the people, particularly farmers, are very happy. "Let the celebration of the Ganesha festival usher in bountiful crops and prosperity," he said. Maharashtra Governor S.M. Krishna has also greeted the people and said he hopes the festival will bring harmony, cheer and progress to the people. Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash, Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajashekaran, national BJP General Secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar, Legislative Assembly Speaker Krishna, Council Chairman V.R. Sudarshan, the Ministers M. Mallikarjun Kharge, D. Manjunath, P.G.R. Sindhia, B. Shivaram, S.R. Morey, H.D. Revanna, K. Srinivasa Gowda, Y. Nagappa, Mirajuddin Patel, Prakash B. Hukkeri, Tanvir Sait and Anjanamurthy, Leader of the Opposition in the Council D.H. Shankaramurthy, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister N.S. Boseraju and Janata Dal (United) State President B. Somashekar have extended greetings.
