MADIKERI: The police have cracked a case of kidnap by freeing two persons hailing from Bihar held captive in a house in Virajpet town of Kodagu district, according to information received here on Tuesday. Wasim (26) and Mohammad Munna (36), brothers, hailing from Sitamarhi village in Bihar, who are running a pan shop in Virajpet for the last more than six years, were allegedly kidnapped by Idris and his wife, Shahira, and three others. They were kept in shackles in a portion of the couple's house in the town since February last, Superintendent of Police, Devajyoti Ray, told The Hindu from Virajpet over telephone on Tuesday. They were being harassed for ransom, Mr. Ray said. The brothers were taken to Bangalore and Chennai earlier by Idris and his team for "collecting" the ransom. Details are yet to be gathered as the police are still investigating. The kidnappers used to feed the brothers in the room where they were kept them chained. The two were tortured for money. Apart from Shahira, her distant relative, Ibrahim (21), too was arrested in connection with the crime, Mr. Ray said. Police are on the look out for Idris. A search is on for two more persons.
