Rupee declines

MUMBAI: The rupee declined against the U.S. currency on Tuesday due to renewed hectic dollar demand from banks amid a resurgent dollar overseas, cutting short a three session sharp rally. In a fairly volatile trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee closed at 43.90/91 a dollar, a steep eight paise decline from Thursday's close of 43.81/82 but a smart recovery from the intraday low of 43.96/97. It opened on a weak note at 43.83/85.
