THE COLLECTORATE premises on Monday presented an unusual sight sans the usual serpentine queue of people to get their grievances redressed. It was unusual since a huge turnout of aggrieved denizens made headlines in the past few weeks. There was a noticeable change in the turnout now. The queues were unprecedented at the point of time when the district authorities were in the process of appointing noon meal staff. Also conspicuous among visitors were members of self-help groups, who used to come with a single-point agenda of obtaining pattas. The talk doing the rounds among officials was that the rain and the Cauvery inflow have kept villagers busy on fields.
