KSCA scores a thrilling win

Sports Reporter

HYDERABAD: Karnataka State Cricket Association recorded a thrilling, nine-run win against Andhra in the pre-quarter-final of the Coromandel King All-India Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup invitation cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

Resuming at it's overnight score of 86 for six, Andhra CA folded up for 134. Except for Y. Gyaneshwar Rao (34), brother of India cricketer Y. Venugopala Rao, none of them showed competence to stay put at the crease. R. Vinay Kumar (four for 47), B. Akhil (three for 37) and Stuart Binny (two for 22) were too good to handle.

In a high-scoring match, India Cements, chasing victory target of 266 and resuming at it's overnight score of 130 for three, romped home losing seven wickets. Experienced duo of J.R. Madangopal (72, 7 x 4, 1 x 6) and S. Sharath (77, 7 x 4, 1 x 6) rose to the occasion after the early setbacks. Sunil Oasis (50, 6 x 4) was the other notable contributor to India Cement's creditable victory.
