Chennai: Country's top golfers will be seen in action during the four-day Hyundai-TNGF Open, beginning on Wednesday. The Rs. 10 lakh tournament also marks the start of the Amby Valley PGAI Tour for the 2005-06 season. The competition will be held at the par-72 Cosmo-TNGF course. It will feature Mukesh Kumar, the `Amby Valley Champion Golfer of the Year' for the 2004-05 season. Some of the other prominent players in the fray are Vijay Kumar, S.S.P. Chowrasia, Sanjay Kumar and Harinder Gupta. The performance of the young and promising Raghav Wahi and Chitrajit Kalra will be followed keenly. Leading golfers Ashok Kumar and Digvijay Singh, taking part in the Asian tour, will miss the event. The total prize money for the Tour has been increased from Rs. 3.05 crore to Rs. 3.40 crore this season. At a press conference here on Tuesday evening, TNGF president N. Srinivasan thanked Hyundai for raising the prize money.
