IAS officer's office searched

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Two days after security personnel at the Begumpet airport found the Technical Education Director G. Anantha Ramu carrying Rs. 21 lakhs in a carton, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials searched his office here on Tuesday.

A special team, headed by the ACB Joint Director Yoganand, came to the IAS officer's office located on the fifth floor of Boorgula Ramakrishna Rao Bhavan around 3 p.m. with a warrant and began the search.

Refusing to divulge details about the investigation, the ACB authorities said they were acting as per instructions of the higher-ups.

Mr. Anantha Ramu was in his chamber when the ACB sleuths came and he was being questioned about some papers seized from his office.

The searches continued till 8.30 p.m. when reports last came in. The warrant authorised the ACB officials to inspect the IAS officer's house also.

Another special team was waiting to inspect his house in Vengalraonagar.

"Since, the house is locked and the key is with the IAS officer we could not begin the search," the ACB officials said.
