KADAPA: Congress and TDP members lodged complaints and objections against rivals seeking their disqualification on various grounds, during scrutiny of nomination papers in the Kadapa Municipal Corporation on Tuesday. Congressmen complained against S. Lakshmidevamma, wife of Rajya Sabha member, S. Ramamuni Reddy, who filed nomination as TDP nominee for 15th municipal division, alleging that she had dual votes. Ruling party members complained that she was enrolled voter in Kadapa and also at Vempalle. However, her nomination was cleared after TDP members produced evidence.
`False declaration'
Congress complained that the TDP candidate for 15th division, M. Venkataswamy, made a false declaration about his conviction in a criminal case. Mr. Venkataswamt's nomination was upheld, on production of proof that a lower court judgement was struck down by the Supreme Court. Incidentally both TDP leaders filed their nomination against the Congress Mayor candidate, P. Ravindranath Reddy, in the 15th ward. TDP complained that the Congress candidate of 24th division, Aga Jan, produced a bogus no-dues certificate. Officials deduced that he did not owe any dues as he was not the owner of a said property. Officials rejected the nomination of TDP nominee of third ward in Rajampet, Saraswathamma, on a complaint that she produced a bogus caste certificate.
