PALAKKAD: The Central team deputed to study the losses caused to the district due to the heavy rain visited some parts of Palakkad and made an on-the-spot study on the losses on Tuesday. The team visited Vadakkumcherry and parts of the National Highways to Walayar and Pollachi to make an assessment of the damages to the roads. The damage assessed by the district administration for national highway was Rs.5.5 crores. The total losses estimated by the district administration stood at Rs. 15.27 crores. The loss on Agriculture was Rs.6.69 crores, Municipal Roads Rs.2.51 crores, local administration buildings Rs.3.70 crores, Houses Rs.16.56 lakhs etc. In the rain havoc, 16 people lost their lives in the district. The central team held discussions with Ottapalam Sub-Collector Dinesh Arora, Deputy Collectors Ashok Kumar, Narayanakutty and others.
